Abstract: Andrias davidianus is one kind of endemic rare and endangered species in China.The main reasons for the low rate of artificial propagation of A.davidianus include asynchronous development of male and female gland in A.davidianus,low development and maturation rate of gonad,low sperm motility,low induced-spawning rate,low fertilization rate,low incubation rate and so on.The main limiting factors in the artificial propagation process of A.davidianus.It was put forward that the key factors that restricted the artificial propagation rate of A.davidianus were water temperature,water flow,lighting and bait.Some concrete parameters were proposed on the basis of the artificial propagation practice of A.davidianus from 2002 to 2010 in Institute of Rare Aquatic Animals in Xiuning County of Huangshan City in Anhui Province,so as to provide reference for the research and practice of the artificial propagation technique of A.davidianus.
