Abstract: Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County situated in the Chongqing southeast, midcourse of Chongqing Wuling Mountains. There are some local breed resource of animal and poultry because of its unique geographical environment and rich natural resources. Xiushan local chicken is favored by consumers with fresh and tender in texture, delicious in taste and nutritious. Xiushan local chicken （hen/cock） body weight ,length, tibia length and dressing percentage is（2 350±200）g/（ 1 760＋130） g, （19.90±0.76） cm/ （18.13±0.64） cm, （ 11.80±0.41 ） em/（10.19±0.32） cm, （87.53%±1.39%）/（87.67%±0.55% ）;The annual egg production, weight and shape index is 130 to 150, （45.10±4.97） g, （1.31±0.09）. Breeding and conservation plan has been put forward depend on production situation and performance of Xiushan local chicken.
