Abstract: Tetracycline antibiotics, belonging to broad-spectrum antibiotics, are commonly used in animal husbandry production in China. Due to their low absorptivity in gastrointestinal system, the residues of tetracycline antibiotics are relatively higher in animal manure. The great amount of tetracycline antibiotics is discharged into soil and waterways with animal manure, resulting in potential pollution risk for water environment. Here, we reviewed the current situation of water pollution caused by tetracycline antibiotics in animal manure and its ecotoxicological effect on aquatic organisms, so as to provide references for the control of water environment pollution caused by tetracycline antibiotics in China.
