Abstract: It was studied to transfer the monoecious character of monoecious muskmelon to oriental melons with andromonoecious character through crossing.F1 hybrids expressed monoecism. The ratio of monoecism and andromonoecism in F2 generations was 3:1.Backcrossing with andromonoecious oriental melons, the generations showed monoecism and andromonoecism separated in the ratio of 1:1.The results showed that the monoecious character was controlled by single dominant gene, which heredity was simple and steady. The crossing generations had been developed with advanced characters as oriental melons through one crossing and two backcrossings. Moreover, two monoecious lines had been obtained through continuous self-crossing and selection, which will be used as a mother to make crossing seeds.
