Abstract: Using 1979—2008 GPCP global monthly precipitation data and NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data, and using synthesis and correlation analysis and other statistical methods to analyze the northwest arid area for nearly 30 years with spring rainfall characteristics, height fields and horizontal wind field associated distribution. The results showed that northwest arid area in nearly 30 years of spring precipitation increasing trend;200 hpa zonal wind, and South East Asian trough northwest arid area of high pressure on spring precipitation have a major impact.
