Abstract: Through the hybrid of local high-quality variety resources and high-yield large-panicle type variety in 1985,a new variety was cultivated by system breeding for many years.The variety took part in Inner Mongolia regional testing from 2005 to 2006 and production model test in 2006.The variety was approved and named by Inner Mongolia Variety Approval Committee in October,2007,and its approval code was Mengrengu 2007003.The millet varieties with over 14% of protein content just account for 5% in China,while Mengfenggu 7 has 14.35% of protein content,so it belongs to a high-protein variety.Millet is famous for high nutritional value,and the straw can be as fodder grass of domestic animals,so millet could be used as grain and feed.Through large-area planting and application,Mengfenggu 7 showed high quality,high yield,stable yield,wide adaptability and strong resistance.
