Abstract: The experimental model of Eperythrozoonsis was established in mice by intravenous and intraperitoneal injection of different doses of whole blood and purified Eperythrozoon ovis from a sheep naturally suffered from Eperythrozoonsis diagnosed by blood pressure drop, blood smear staining and Eperythrozoon ovis specific PCR. The model was further evaluated for its success and characterized. While the mice could be infected within 3-6 days after injection of Eperythrozoon ovis by different means, no obvious infectious symptom was observed in the control groups. The results indicated that the experimental model of Eperythrozoon ovis infection in mice was successfully established and it was potentially helpful for the better understanding of biological property and pathogenic mechanisms of Eperythrozoon ovis.
