Abstract: In view of the present situation of the insufficient supply of herbage for livestock in winter in Dangxiong County of Tibet and the idle status of warm shed in warm seasons of this region, the comparative variety trial was conducted to evaluate the economic benefit of planning different varieties of herbage. Amongst the selected four varieties of herbage, including Avena sativa(Qinghai No.444 and Baiyan No.2), Vicia sativa(Ganzi No.333) and Bassia rapa(landrace of Qushui County), the Vicia sativa(Ganzi No.333) had the best planning economic benefit. The planting pattern and utilization method of Ganzi No.333 showed good operability. Furthermore, the Ganzi No.333 had higher nutritional value and had good feeding effect for livestock fattening. As a legume crop, the Vicia sativa variety of Ganzi No.333 is able to improve the local soil condition. The combined data suggest that Ganzi No.333 is a recommended herbage variety for warm shed planning. In conclusion, we propose a new application model for warm shed of livestock breeding in cold seasons and herbage planning in warm seasons, which provides a novel direction for the sustainable development of local animal husbandry economy.
