Abstract: The new lines of Elymus canadensis L. has excellent resistance for the test materials. We studied on physiological and biochemical changes of new lines of E. canadensis L. under the high salt stress, to reveal its physiological characteristics. The results showed that physiological and biochemical characteristics of the new lines compared with control lines under 2% NaCl stress were as follows:the conductivity rised which increased membrane permeability; and MDA content, free proline content and soluble sugar content increased;but chlorophyll content decreased;the damage degree of new lines leaf was greater than the root under high salt stress conditions, and the salt-tolerance of new line is higher than control variety E.sibiricus.
