Abstract: Agricultural greenhouse gas emissions are one of the important factors contributing to the intensification of global climate change. The preparation of novel fertilizers with biochar as a functional carrier has become an innovative technology for synergistically improving crop yield and restoring soil ecological functions. China possesses abundant corn straw resources and the conversion of corn straw into biochar-based fertilizers through a pyrolysis process has broad application prospects for promoting the development of green agriculture. This paper systematically reviews the technical development status of corn straw biochar-based fertilizers in recent years, with particular emphasis on the preparation and optimization of corn straw biochar-based fertilizers and their negative carbon benefits. Finally,in view of the existing problems, the future research directions and application prospects are discussed, with the aim to provide references for promoting the green transformation of agriculture and achieving the goals of “dual carbon”.

Key words: Corn straw, Biochar-based fertilizers, Preparation process, Agricultural application, Negative carbon benefits
