Abstract: On the basis of the traditional theory of Chinese medicine, a Chinese herbal medicine pharmaceutical named "Compound Anti-dysenteric Oral Liquid" was developed to treat diarrhea in dairy calves. And it had the functions of anti-inflammation, anti- dysentericum, stopping bleeding and protecting gastrointestinal mucosa. The dairy calves suffering from diarrhea were treated for a course of 3 d. The effective rate and cure rate were respectively 70% and 60%, which were higher than those of the control group. Supplementation of flavor enhancers in the oral liquid avoided its poor palatability. Eighty percent of the dairy calves took the oral liquid actively, which avoided the disadvantages of gavage administration.
