Abstract: When pig excrement was used as bait, the total biomass of earthworms(Eisenia foetida) was used as an evaluating indicator. When cow dung was used as bait, the total cocoon production of earthworms(Eisenia foetida) was used as an evaluating indicator. The factors included temperature, humidity, inoculum density and ratio of C/N.The orthogonal test L9(34) was used for experimental design. The results showed that the total biomass of earthworms peaked when using the pig excrement as bait under the following conditions:temperature,20 °C;inoculum density,12 earthworms per 90 g dry bait;humidity,70%;and ratio of C/N,14.2.Range analysis showed that the inoculum density had greater effects on the total biomass of earthworms. The total cocoon production of earthworms peaked when using the cow dung as bait under the following conditions:temperature,25 °C;inoculum density,12 earthworms per 90 g dry bait;humidity,65%;and ratio of C/N,19.4.Range analysis showed that the temperature had greater effects on the total cocoon production of earthworms.
