Abstract: The environmental adaptability of 50 embryo progenies of Dorper sheep in Baotou region of Inner Mongolia which were introduced from Australia were observed, and their growth and development status were also determined. Results showed that some indexes like rectal temperature, heartbeat, respiration, unhairing and ingestion, etc. of lamb, young and adult Dorper sheep had no obvious significance with them in origin place, furthermore some indexes like body weight, withers height, body length and chest width, etc. of them also met the characteristic requirements of Dorper sheep varieties. It is indicated that Dorper sheep show a good adaptability in Baotou region of Inner Mongolia. It provides relative theoretical basis for the feasibility of introducing Dorper sheep varieties and also has practical significance in guiding the crossbreeding and improvement of meat sheep breeds.
