Abstract: The restricting factors of the sustainable development of pastureland animal husbandry in northern Tibet plateau were explored. It was suggested that the control of degraded grassland should be effectively accelerated, the conception and actions of the traditional "quantitative animal husbandry" should be given up, and the transformation of pastureland animal husbandry to intensive management mode should be advocated. And some strategies for controlling the pastureland degradation and promoting the sustainable development of pastureland animal husbandry were proposed.
