Abstract: [Objective]To investigate the effect of Saccharum alhagi on blood sugar content of rabbits. [Method] A total of 12 healthy New Zealand white rabbits were chosen and divided into six groups, including five experimental groups and one control group. The rabbits in different experimental groups were administrated with 30% water extract of Saccharum alhagi, 15% water extract of Saccharum alhagi, 7.5% water extract of Saccharura alhagi, 25% glucose injection + 30% water extract of Saccharum alhagl, and 25% glucose injection by intramuscular injection, respectively. The blood samples was collected from ear marginal veins at 0, 10, 20, 30, 60, 120, 240, 360, 480, 600 and 720 min after administration, respectively, and the serum were isolated. The serum sugar content was determined by commercial kit using enzyme-labeling measuring instrument. [ Results ]The effect of 30%, 15% and 7.5% water extract of Saccharum alhagi on blood sugar content of rabbits was not obvious; No significant differences were observed between the effects of 30% water extract of Saccharum alhagl+25% glucose injection and 30% water extract of Saccharum alhagi on blood sugar content of rabbits. [Conclusion]The effect of water extract of Saccharum alhagi on blood sugar content of rabbits was not obvious.
