Abstract: Sperm cryopreservation is a key point in canine artificial insemination technique. The instable freezing effect and low sperm motility after thawing always result in failure of canine artificial insemination and the small average litter size, which limits the extensive use of this technique. Canine sperm freezing is a systematic technology process whose effeet is influenced by various factors. This paper reviews the influence of cryoproteetant, plasma membrane protectant, antioxidant proteetant, and freezing protocol and method on the freezing effect of canine sperm.
