Abstract: Porcine artificial insemination technology is widely used with the rapid development of pig farming industry in which semen preservation plays a crucial role. Stable semen preservation technology greatly promotes the spread of excellent genes in the pig industry, extends the geographical regions of semen application, improves the swine variety, and is helpful to control the spreading of pathogens. In this paper, the research progress and application status of semen preservation technology in livestock and poultry production were summarized, the influencing factors of pig semen preservation efficiency were reviewed, and the existing problems in application of pig semen preservation technology were analyzed, in hoping to provide references for the research and application of pig semen preservation technology.
