Abstract: In order to study how the weight and dose affect the diabetic model induced by streptozocin, male mice of different weights were intraperitoneal injected into different doses of streptozocin by 5 times, the range of which was from 100 to 300 mg/(kg.bw). The course of disease, blood glucose, the death rate and the successful diabetic model were recorded to make sure the best dose of making diabetic models for streptozocin. The results showed that the highest rate of making diabetic model was 85% when the male mice were injected into 200 mg/(kg.bw) streptozocin. In that case, those mice showed typical diabetic disorder, and the weight and blood glucose changed little. Therefore, the best dose of making diabetic mice models for streptozotocin was 200 mg/(kg. bw) which was injected by 5 times. By the way, the rate of making successful diabetic models with lower weight of male mice was higher than with higher weight of male mice, and it also had lower death rate.
