Abstract: Thymus L., belonging to Lamiaceae, have wide distribution in China and rich wild resource. Researches show that Thymus L. not only are important spices and garden plants, but also are good grassland vegetation restoration plants. In order to provide reference for exploring the utilization value of Thymus L., biological characteristics of Thymus L. and their advantages in grassland vegetation restoration were reviewed, furthermore prospects for development and utilization of Thymus L. were put forward.
