Abstract: Mycotoxin contamination is an important factor that affects the animal feed safety. Ochratoxin A (OTA) is widely distributed in feed raw materials for broiler chickens. Numerous studies have shown that OTA has nephrotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, cytotoxicity, genetic toxicity, carcinogenicity, teratogenicity, immunotoxicity and intestinal toxicity on broiler chickens, which not only brings great economic losses to broiler chickens rearing industry, but also poses a threat to animal and human health. In this paper, the research advances of OTA in China and abroad are summarized but reviewed, and its toxic mechanisms on broiler chickens are expounded from the aspects of intestinal toxicity, hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity and immunotoxicity induced by OTA, in hoping to provide references for further study of OTA.

Key words: Ochratoxin A, broiler chickens, toxic mechanism
