Effects of the First-mating Day on the Farrowing Performance of Sows

Abstract: According to the production data of 203 eliminated sows in a pig farm,the litter size at the first parity,parity number,total litter size of sows with different first-mating day were analyzed. The results showed that the alive litter size at the first parity of sows with the first-mating day of 240-269 day-old was the least,the average parity number of sows with the first-mating day of 270-299 day-old was the least,the average parity number and the total alive litter size of sows with the first-mating day of 300-329 day-old were the highest. The average parity number of sows with the first-mating day of 210-239 day-old was the least. To the best economic benefits,the best first-mating day of sows was 210-239 day-old.
