Abstract: Serratia marcescens has certain application values in medicine,environmental pollution control, chemical industry and other fields, so it is suitable for applying in the experimental teaching of microbiology in many majors. S. marcescens had the biological characteristics of minimal cell,wide distribution,fast growing speed,low nutrient demands and so on, which made it applied in many experimental programs. Its special modification characters could enrich the teaching content of microbial genetics experiment. The special characters of S. marcescens and its application in medicine,environmental pollution control, chemical industry and other fields were expounded.
