Abstract: Canine distemper is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by canine distemper virus (CDV). Animals in Canidae, Mustelidae and Procyonidae are susceptible to CDV. This disease can be preliminary diagnosed by clinical symptoms and epidemiological features and confirmed diagnosed by etiology examination and serodiagnosis. Currently, due to the lack of effective drugs for cure of canine distemper the prevention of this disease mainly dependents on vaccination. We summarized the clinical diagnosis technique of canine distemper disease and the research progress on canine distemper vaccine, so as to provide some references for the veterinarians.
