Abstract: Silage is rich in nutrition and is easy to prepare and store. With the development of wild animals rearing, there is an increasing demand for forage from the wild herbivorous animals in city zoo. Accordingly, the silage has potential to play an important role in the rearing of wild herbivorous animals. A field experiment on feeding effect of whole-plant corn straw silage on captive wild herbivorous animals was conducted. The results showed that the whole-plant corn straw silage was able to serve as forage for sika deer, wapiti, camel, yak, nylghau, alpacas, and other wild herbivorous animals; an adaptation period was needed when the silage was applied in the feeding of animals, and the adaptation period varied among different varieties of animals; corn silage intake was not observed in giraffe during the experimental period.
