Abstract: Local varieties of goats in Tibet are famous of their superior traits, including crude feed tolerance, cold resistance, hypoxia resistance, disease resistance and strong adaptability, The central producing areas, breed characteristics and current status of cultivation of different local varieties of goats in Tibet were introduced, and the main factors limiting the development of goats cultivation in this region were analyzed. On this basis, we put forward some suggestions on promoting the conservation and utilization of germplasm resources of local varieties of goats in Tibet.
