Abstract: Caragana intermedia Kuang. cv. ordos is a wild species of leguminous forage and is commonly distributed in arid desert steppe. After domestication and cultivation for many years, it is appraised and licenced by China Herbage Cuhivar Registration Board as a cultivated wild variety. Here, we reviewed the botanical characteristics, biological characteristics, feeding value, cultivation technique, analyzed the existing problems in promotion and utilization, proposed the possible strategies on variety improvement, and prospected the utilization of Caragana intermedia Kuang. cv. ordos, so as to provide scientific basis for the further study of this forage variety.
