Abstract: How to design foundation scheme for protecting the genetic resources of local poultry on the basis of aspects such as assigning breed conservation area,ascertaining the aim of breed conservation and calculating the relative parameter of breed conservation was summarized by the writer and several mating systems were compared. Meanwhile,it was pointed out that the development of exploiting genetic resources of varieties could not be blind,otherwise it would endanger the protection for basic population.
