Drug Use Analysis for Canine Diseases in an Animal Hospital from Year 2017 to 2018

Abstract: [Objective] To analyze the drug use for canine diseases in an animal hospital from year 2017 to 2018, to master the situation of canine disease prevalence and drug use in the surrounding areas, and to provide basic data for clinical medication. [Method] A retrospective study was carried out to assess the drug varieties, drug consumption sum, drug use frequency, average daily cost and drug utilization index of 4 562 outpatient prescriptions from year 2017 to 2018. [Result] Many varieties of antibiotics were used; the higher consumption sum of Fuduole bath and povidone iodine cream was found; the dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection, compound ammonium glycyrrhizinate injection and tolfenamic acid tablets were more frequently used; the sale sum of amitraz was in good synchronization with the drug use frequency; the drug utilization index from year 2017 to 2018 was less than 1. [Conclusion] Drug use for canine diseases in the animal hospital is basically reasonable.
