Abstract: Long-term use of antibiotics in animals leads to declined immunity and causes endogenous infections and double infections in livestock and poultry. Therefore, the development of green, high-efficient and safe new feed antibiotic substitutes (ASs) has become a hot spot in the development of current feed industry. There are many types of ASs, including acidulants, antibacterial peptides, Chinese herbal medicines, microecological preparations and other products, and they are considered safe, environmentally friendly and effective. This article reviews the application of acidulants, γ-aminobutyric acid, hydrolyzed tannic acid, plant extracts, antimicrobial peptides, enzyme preparations, probiotics, Chinese herbal medicines, etc. in pig production, in hoping to provide references for the development of ASs.

Key words: antibiotic substitutes, acidulants, hydrolyzed tannic acid, plant extracts, probiotics, Chinese herbal medicines, pig production
