Abstract: Thermopsis lanceolate contains many kinds of alkaloids, which are not only the toxic components of poisoned animal, but also have expectorant and antitussive effect. The alkaloids of T. lanceolate have been reported widely, but little is known about the extraction and separation of alkaloids from the plant. Two crystallizations were purified from T. lanceolate by column chromatography and were ultimately identified as thermopsine and tetrahydrodeoxoargentamin by using TLC, GC-MS and IR spectrometry. The results showed that the method was a simple and reliable method for separation and purification of alkaloid from T. lanceolate, thus provide the safeguard for the follow-up study of their biological activities.
