Abstract: The copy number variation(CNV)in domestic animal genome has relatively larger span length which always contains a single gene or a part of a certain gene and even spans multiple genes.The total number of nucleotides covered by CNV is much larger than the total number of SNPs.Some studies have showed that the CNV can affect gene expression.In this paper,we introduce the researches on CNV in different domestic animal genome,analyze the correlation between these CNVs and trait,summarize the impact of CNV on trait,and review the progress and prospect of the studies on effect of CNV on trait in domestic animal genome,in hoping to offer references for the further research on CNV in domestic animal genome and its impact on the phenotypic traits.
