Acute Toxicity Evaluation and Skin Irritation Testing for a Pharmaceutical Liniment Prepared with Stellera chamaejasme

Abstract: [Objective]To assess the acute toxicity and safety of the external use of a pharmaceutical liniment prepared with Stellera chamaejasme.[Methods]Acute oral toxicity testing was conducted with mice;the skin and eye irritation testing was carried out with rabbits according to the national standard GB 15670-1995"Pesticide registration toxicology test method".[Results]The acute oral LD50 of the pharmaceutical liniment was 894.4 mg/kg;the score of skin irritation was all below 0.49,and the highest score of acute eye irritation was 2.1.[Conclusion]The pharmaceutical liniment prepared with Stellera chamaejasme is a safe external use preparation with low toxicity,non-skin irritation and slight-eye irritation.
