Abstract: Genetic evaluation,as the core content of Livestock Breeding,is a highly theoretical part of the teaching process,which needs to be combined with practice to help undergraduates understand its content.At present,there are a lot of software applied in livestock genetic evaluation.Compared with the other software,WOMBAT software has the advantages of simple parameter setting and fast running speed.Taking the cashmere yield and weaning weight of goats as examples,we established a single trait and multi-trait (no) repeatability model,and used this software to estimate the genetic parameters of the above traits effectively,which can be used in classroom teaching to help undergraduates understand the application of genetic evaluation in livestock breeding.
